    Centre for Health Economics

    The Centre for Health Economics is recognised internationally for the quality of its research, focussed on unresolved and emerging issues in the economics of health and the delivery of health care. It has significant number of senior health economists and a vibrant international visitors program. The contribution of our staff is evident through our research output; both in quality publications and community impact as well as their fellowship and editorial roles.

    The Centre has close links with a number of researchers in health, public economics, behavioural and experimental economics, development economics, and econometrics located in the departments of the Monash Business School at Clayton as well as the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

    The Opportunity

    As a result of additional funding support the Centre for Health Economics is currently seeking to appoint three enthusiastic postdoctoral Research Fellows (Level B) or more experienced Senior Research Fellows (Level C) to join a highly motivated team at Clayton Campus.

    The successful candidates will participate in one or more of the main research programs at the Centre:

    the socioeconomic determinants and dynamics of health and subjective wellbeing
    measuring quality of life and social preferences
    preferences, choice, behaviour and performance in the health system
    the economic evaluation of health programs.
    You will also be able to contribute to the future development of research at the Centre.

    The Research Fellow will work closely with one or more of the senior researchers at the CHE - Professors Anthony Harris, David Johnston, Andrew Jones, Emily Lancsar, Duncan Mortimer, Michael Shields, and Silva Zavarsek. You will also have the opportunity to develop your own research program leading to potential future grant and fellowship applications within the period of the appointment.

    The main duties of the research fellow will be to:

    assist in the conceptual development and implementation of a specific area of research
    prepare research reports and academic papers
    have limited administrative roles primarily connected with the area of research
    participate more broadly in our portfolio of health economics research and teaching activities.
    To be successful you will have a Doctoral qualification in health economics, economics or econometrics (or equivalent relevant research experience), and a high level of applied microeconomic or econometric expertise. You will be able to work both independently and as a member of a team. Applicants with a substantial track record of high quality publications in economics journals may be appointed at level C.

    These roles are full-time positions; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
