    The British Museum has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Finds Advisor and Treasure Curator for Roman Coins. The post-holder will assist in the recording of Iron Age and Roman coins onto the Portable Antiquities Scheme database (finds.org.uk) and in the maintenance of the appropriate records.

    The post-holder will also assist the National Finds Advisor with the initial assessment of hoards upon arrival at the Museum, cataloguing hoards to publication standard and packaging coins for transportation. The role will also involve assisting with the preparation of any new editions of Coin Hoards from Roman Britain and any other smaller publications.

    The successful candidate will possess a degree in ancient history, archaeology, classics or a related subject, or equivalent, and will have an excellent knowledge of Roman coins. An understanding of Iron Age coins is desirable, as is experience of work in a university or museum environment.

    As an excellent communicator, you will be able to communicate and liaise effectively with a range of individuals, particularly colleagues in the Museum, Finds Liaison Officers across the country and finders of coin hoards and assemblages. A publication record in the field of Iron Age or Roman coins is desirable.
