    Job description

At Lloyds Banking Group, our vision is to be the best bank for customers. Working for us means you’ll have a role that matters, helping Britain prosper.

Trade Services is the Operational Centre of Excellence for Lloyds Banking Group’s Trade products. Based in Birmingham, we are the only major UK bank that processes trade transactions solely in the UK. Trade Services service the full trade product suite (collections, letters of credit and guarantees) in addition to trade finance and lending.

Our teams work with importers and exporters to provide a range of award-winning trade finance services to maximise the financial benefits of our SME, Mid-markets and Global corporate clients.

We have a new job opportunity supporting our growing Trade business in the Asia market and our recently opened branch in Singapore. Lloyds Banking Group has committed to its strategy of expanding their traditional trade offering in this market, utilising our UK operations and UK infrastructure.

We are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our expanding Nightshift team, which operates between the hours of midnight and 8 am. In this role, you'll assist the Operations Manager in leading the team servicing the full suite of trade products (collections, letters of credit and guarantees), ensuring the achievement of planned performance within agreed service standards, and driving the delivery of a customer focused operation.

You'll guide and support the team as needed, embedding and maintaining robust controls within the operation, as well as supporting the Technical Managers by undertaking quality checking of work produced, and providing coaching in order to provide an effective service to our customers.

You'll need to be an experienced people manager with proven experience in managing, coaching and keeping high-performing teams engaged. Plus, a background in a regulated operational environment is essential, as is having identified and delivered Service Excellence improvements.

Ideally, you'll have knowledge and experience of Trade products and the Trade Processing Lifecycle, procedures and services, including interpretation of and application of best practices, as well as a solid understanding of the Legal and Regulatory requirements pertaining to the provision of Trade products, and the environment in which Trade Services operates. A strong overall knowledge of Banking and its environment in order to understand the end to end customer experience would also be useful.

Being CITF qualified is ideal although not essential. Alternatively you will need to be willing to successfully attain this qualification within 12 months of being in the role.

If this sounds like you, you can look forward to having a role that matters, working in an environment that provides continuous learning and development, excellent benefits and a career that’s full of opportunity. As this is a nightshift role, the salary advertised includes as shift allowance.

Our vision of being the best bank for customers is dependent on every colleague committing to and demonstrating our core value of "putting customers first". In joining us you'll have a role that matters and will contribute towards the Group achieving our vision through your day-today actions being performed in line with our Codes of Responsibility and Group Policies. By individually and collectively committing to our Group values and codes, we will be able to make a difference together and help Britain prosper.

We're also committed to employing a diverse and inclusive workforce, reflective of the customers and communities we serve – where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.

We're proud to have received the following industry recognition: 'Stonewall Top Private Sector Employer', 'Top10 Employer for Working Families', 'The Times Top 50 Employer for Women' and both 'Gold Standard' and "Best Workplace Adjustments Process" from the Business Disability Forum – each demonstrating our commitment to the principles of agile working and inclusion for all.

So if this sounds like a culture that you'd like to be a part of then be assured that we'll welcome your application.
