ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-moving entrepreneurial team currently exploring the edges of possibility. We move with speed and purpose, taking calculated risks and failing fast – all with one goal in mind: serving consumers in new and unimagined ways. In support of that mission, we are currently seeking an experienced Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR - contract) to lead the development of new business ideas and pilots through our innovation pipeline. This role serves as the leader for a new business and is responsible for building the team and capabilities required to stand up and transition a pilot into NIKE, Inc. Our ideal candidate is a proven entrepreneurial leader who can balance the competing demands of testing, learning, and building a business and team from scratch while also bringing key stakeholders / executives along on the journey.
**We are currently looking for an EiR with experience building new businesses in emerging markets.**
Responsibilities:
•Research and insights – you have led qualitative and quantitative research into consumer segments, consumer / marketplace trends, emerging businesses models, and emerging technologies to generate and determine the attractiveness of new ideas new to serve a market.
•Strategy and vision – you have demonstrated an ability to set vision and strategy and to get buy in for it – you are tenured in pitching to senior leaders and know how to also bring others on the journey with you, with inspiration, clear communications and deep listening skills. You have prior experience representing a company, brand or team.
•Lean startup and human centered design – designing solutions and conducting quick in-market experiments to test them is second nature to you, you are proficient in lean startup, human centered design and/or agile methodologies to test and build new capabilities, products and services in market.
•Network development – you have or can quickly build networks in new markets to support consumer research, design, development, testing of ideas, and you have experience managing such partnerships.
•Team building and development – you know how to manage complex teams and built strong team dynamics. You are tenured in recruiting best-of-class talent and developing them, and you have the reputation of being a talent magnet and someone that creates followership amongst others.
•Empathy and self-awareness – you are proven to be agile and willing to be a constant learner, open to coaching and feedback. You have demonstrated deep self-awareness, a constant curiosity and a thirst to grow. You have the interest and ability to pivot across varied opportunities. You have multiple battle scars and failures you can point to that showcase these skills.
Qualifications:
•Degree and/or higher degree
•14+ years of work experience in both corporate and startup / investor community
•Experience starting, proving out, and growing a startup, new line of business, or new capability
•Experience leading qualitative and quantitative consumer / market research
•Strong commercial acumen, ideally having managed a P&L
•Budget management experience
•Strong storytelling skills; experience successfully pitching to and engaging with very senior, experienced executives and investors
•Experience of leading mid- to large-sized teams as a Senior Director, GM and/or Founder/CEO
•Meeting and workshop facilitation
•Comfortable assessing and taking calculated risks

Role Type:

Portland (OR), Singapore, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, or other emerging market hub. 50% travel expected.
Compensation:
Dependent upon experience and market. Range: $100K-250K USD. (Note that $100K-250K USD is the accurate salary range for this role. Angel List only allows an $80K salary range in the formal posting so it's listed as $120-200K elsewhere on this post.)
