This role requires a passion for the tech industry, familiarity with Shopee’s operations and initiatives in Singapore, and a sophisticated understanding of the local media landscape.
Responsibilities
- Develop a budget for an external communications plan, and execute against it;
- Manage the Shopee Singapore PR team and the external PR agency;
- Oversee the organisation and execution of media and influencer events, media briefings/coffee sessions, etc;
- Oversee the development and dissemination of all PR content such as press releases, messaging, holding statements, media pitches, event invites, presentation decks, etc;
- Identify new PR opportunities and strategies, and provide quality and timely advice to Manager on issues that affect the reputation and external relationships of the business;
- Identify media trends, news cycles and key media opportunities for Shopee in Singapore and drive impactful corporate stories;
- Maintain and build relations with key media/journalists;
- Stay abreast of the ever-evolving media industry (media movements) and be kept up-to-date with news cycle/trends to identify newsjacking opportunities.
Requirements
- Deadline-oriented, meticulous, with great follow-up and reporting skills;
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Existing relationships with journalists focused on the tech and startup space at top tier local business and tech publications;
- Experience in Singapore market in corporate communications, media relations, issues management, and lifestyle;
- Prior experience managing a team;
- 5+ years PR experience required.
