    Job description

    Do you like challenges? Do you want to have a meaningful impact on society? Do you want to work with the best talent in London, for a company with a clear, well defined vision?

    The Engineering Company is looking for a creative, passionate and driven Community and Social Media Manager to join our team and own the creation of a new, revolutionary engineering community.

    | About Us
    The Engineering Company is building a next-generation design tool for mechanical engineering. From rocket engines to wind turbines and robots, designing engineering products is expensive, slow and can only be done by experts. Our software massively accelerates design and lowers barriers to entry, making inconceivable advancements possible.

    We are software and mechanical engineers that have worked on the cutting edge of industry, at places including Autodesk Research, McLaren Automotive and F1, Rolls Royce Aerospace. We work in an incredibly fast paced environment with a laser focus on executing quickly to deliver the maximum amount of value to our users, customers and the world.

    We are a tight-knit, motivated and supportive family: we’re all motivated by working towards the same goal, and we want the world to join us in our mission. We are creating a new grassroots movement: a global group of engineers, hobbyists and enthusiasts passionate about working with the latest ground breaking tools, to change the world for the better.

    | The Role
    Key Responsibilities:
    1. lead the strategic planning for expansion, engagement, content creation and distribution;
    2. deliver world-class content and experiences that delight our community and foster brand loyalty, while engaging personally with the community every day;
    3. use state of the art analytics and monitoring to constantly adapt and improve your strategies for increased engagement and user love.

    To support the organic and rapid growth of our community, you will devise mechanisms that empower people to create their own local chapters, while remaining as part of the core TEC family. You will promote a community feel by building and fostering inter-member social relationships through social media, Slack, Email campaigns, meetups, events and competitions. You will moderate community content to ensure civility, openness and friendly discourse.

    Benefits:
    We offer a competitive salary, equity and benefits package including an unlimited development budget, unlimited and flexible holiday and a cycle-to-work scheme, among others.
    As we grow as a community and a team, you will have the opportunity to grow into a leadership role, hiring your own team to support continued community growth.

    | About you
    You are the single public face of TEC for our users - the link that makes them feel individually valued as of the family.
    You love helping people and get a thrill from enabling positive interactions inside and outside the community. You have a high degree of empathy and adaptability, and a high attention to detail. You are witty, personable, relatable and resilient - you can confidently manage negative interactions and turn them into positive outcomes for the community and for TEC.
    You have some experience building and maintaining a new community. You must have detailed knowledge about engineering, hackspace and enthusiast community, industry and the ability to research and stay on top of the latest trends and developments.
    Ideally, you are a maker / hacker / engineer yourself, with deep knowledge of the problem we’re solving.
