    We are looking for an experienced senior-level software engineer in Connecticut passionate about creating great web applications and eager to transform the way patients communicate and transact with their medical providers. As a venture-backed SAAS startup company in New Haven CT, Inbox Health provides a great opportunity for talented engineers to grow and work with state-of-the-art development practices, AWS cloud/continuous integration deployment tooling, and deliver code to thousands of users in bi-weekly Sprints.

    As a senior engineer, you will have uniquely important responsibility and opportunities to make real impacts in the technical stack and direction of the core products. In combination with the CTO and product director you will assist with planning and creating tasks from business requirements as well as executing them to create, test, and deploy new features.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Designing, coding and implementing REST API resources and endpoints consumed by both integrated partners and client web applications

    • Working with partners and clients to figure out the most performant and best protocols and endpoint designs to solve business problems by converting these specifications into actionable Agile tasks

    • Using Ember SPA framework create new features on the front-end using Javascript, HTML and CSS

    • Use Ruby on Rails and other server-side languages to handle HTTP requests, issue database queries, and serialize the data to a variety of client protocols

    • Handle complex data modeling and performance testing problems that come with handling thousands of requests per second efficiently

    • Design unit tests in RSpec for all product feature requests

    • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack

    • Create and implement user interfaces using best practices and toolsets

    • Administer, provision, and deploy remote servers on cloud providers with an eye towards efficiency and cost

    • Mentor, lead, and coordinate division of labor with a team of more junior engineers

    • Engage and support internal and external customers by answering questions and product requests via Slack, Email, and Phone

    Requirements

    • MS and/or BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent preferred

    • 5+ years of overall professional software engineering experience

    • 2-4 years of professional engineering experience specifically using a Ruby to create web applications and/or REST APIs (preferably Ruby on Rails)

    • Mastery of Javascript and front-end development procedures in a Single-page Application Framework (Ember.js would be best)

    • Mastery of the Ruby programming language and server-side software development best practices

    • Experience designing and optimizing database models, relationships, and SQL queries in PostgreSQL (preferably through ActiveRecord ORM in Ruby on Rails)

    • Familiarity with job processing, queuing and ETL best practices and how they relate to messaging services and/or key-value databases such as Redis

    • Experience with Cloud Deployment practices and system administration (Bash, Unix etc)

    • Commuting distance to our office location at 770 Chapel St, New Haven CT
