What You'll Do as a Sr. DevOps Engineer

Pypestream is building a diverse team of dynamic engineers who value creating a high quality, high impact product. We are looking for a Senior Devops Engineer who is an excellent operations engineer with a strong focus on continuous integration, continuous deployment and with some coding experience in Python. You'll be working with the DevOps Team whose goal is to build and maintain our cloud and on-premise infrastructure and collaborate across all of engineering to build a productive, stable and cost-efficient platform. The Senior DevOps Engineer will also work in close collaboration with Developer Teams to streamline their build, testing and deployment processes.

Here are some projects we're excited for you to work on

• Automate environments build from nothing to fully functional deployment using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes and Ansible on AWS, GCP and OpenStack.
• Develop systems to support Backend Engineers driving a transition to a Self Service Oriented Architecture.
• Maintain and optimize our databases (Postgres, Riak - experience not required with these specific databases) and search engine (Elasticsearch).
• Build networking infrastructure to support international expansion with world-class security, performance, and maintainability.
• Improve upon our CI/CD infrastructure for our quickly growing engineering team to ensure safe and reliable Continuous Deployment.

What we look for

Must Have: (3+ years ideal)

• Kubernetes experience in troubleshooting, managing and building clusters.
• Cloud provider experience (AWS, GCP, OpenStack).
• Infrastructure as Code experience with either Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Docker Containers experience (build, deploy and manage).
• Jenkins experience (implementing and maintaining). Configuration as code / DSL will be a plus.
• Experience in scripting - Bash will be prefered.
• Experience in managing ElasticSearch clusters.
• Linux OS experience (troubleshooting, patching, updating).
• Strong knowledge of security practices, TLS, and data encryption (AWS KMS or similar).
• Excellent communication skills; can communicate ideas effectively (written and oral)
• Authorized to work in or for the USA.

Strong preference: (3+ years - will consider equivalent experience)

• Experience with security tools like OpenVAS, Capsule8 or anything similar.
• Experience with Docker registries (Harbor).
• Experience with OpenVPN and OpenLDAP.
• GitLab management and integration (within Jenkins).
• Experience with the Prometheus/Grafana monitoring stack.

Nice to have:

• AWS or GCP certified.
• Experience with coding.
• Familiarity with kanban/agile practices.
