About the role
As our first full-time creative hire, you will play a key role in developing our brand identity and be the leading force in developing and executing our marketing strategy. As a core member of the early team, you will own everything from long-term strategy to tactical execution. This is an opportunity to lead at an early-stage, mission-driven company.
What you’ll do
You’ll have the opportunity to define a unique brand that sits at the intersection of conservation, consumer and culture. You should feel comfortable owning strategic work like developing marketing goals and our brand positioning, but also be able to execute on operational work like running a campaign, managing PR, or organizing an event.
To give you a better sense of the impact you’ll have, here’s a rundown of what your first year might look like:
Within your first month you'll have the opportunity to:
- Work with our founder to vet, select and manage external agencies and designers
- Build out our public launch plan and lead our brand design work
Within your first three months you'll have the opportunity to:
- Cultivate online and offline relationships with key local actors, influencers and partners
- Develop and deploy content, brand assets, and online experiences for our customers
- Grow our following through content creation, email marketing, and social media
Within your first six months you’ll:
- Find and vet PR agency and lead content and communications strategy
- Help manage our digital / performance marketing agency relationship and work with our founder to lead growth initiatives
Within your first year you'll have the opportunity to:
- Hire and lead your brand and marketing team
- Plan and lead community events that help spread our story and uplift the communities we operate in
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who is excited to scale as quickly as the company itself. More important than credentials, you’re eager to roll up your sleeves to get things done and create something special together. Other qualifications might include:
- 5+ years of marketing / brand experience at a consumer-facing company (or experience working on a brand at an early-stage startup)
- Demonstrated experience and passion for defining and growing brands
- Experience leading teams and managing multiple projects and stakeholders
- Articulate storyteller, you speak and write with passion and clarity
- Fast-mover: you can move quickly to create high quality content in an evolving environment
- Experience working across a wide variety of marketing channels including social, influencer marketing, and content within a startup environment with limited resources
- Strong intuition and understanding of what makes great creative, proficient working with and giving direction to designers
- Bonus points for experience or demonstrated interest in conservation and environmental causes.*
