We are looking for an International Event Organizer to join VFW management Inc.

Position: Event Planner (NOC 1226)
Hourly Wage: $21.00/hour, 4% in lieu of benefits
Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Job duties:

*Meet with international established and emerging designers to promote and discuss event, conversation and fashion show services
*Researching markets to identify opportunities for events
*Meet with sponsors and organizing committees to plan scope and format events, to establish and monitor budgets and to review administrative procedures and progress of events
* Co-ordinate services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, conference and other facilities, translation (English/Japanese), special needs requirements, audio-visual equipment, and security
*Plan entertainment and social gatherings for participants
*Hire, train and supervise support staff required for events (makeup artist, stylist, photographer, social media specialist and so on)
* Ability to build relationships quickly with a variety of people (designers, Vancouver Fashion week staff, PR professionals, etc.)

Skills requirements:

*A university degree or college diploma in a related field
*Minimum 2 years of experience in hospitality, tourism administration or in public relations. marketing
*Translator experience is strongly preferred as you will be working predominantly with Japanese designers, many of which are unable to communicate in English. You will be liaising between the Japanese designers and their support staff and with Vancouver Fashion Week organizers.
*Strong commination and interpersonal skills
*English is a must, Japanese and other language is asset
