Sr. TechOps Engineer - Fama Technologies｜Meet.jobs

Position Overview:
The Sr. TechOps Engineer will focus on building culture, processes, practices, and tools to support the development of our SaaS product lines. At Fama, TechOps comprises four main areas of focus: DevOps, DataOps, SecOps, and ProdOps. As such, this role requires both broad knowledge and experience across all four of these areas, as well as deep expertise in at least one of them. While you will not need to be the expert in all things TechOps, you must be able to help develop the TechOps strategic roadmap for the next two to three quarters, build and execute plans to deliver the roadmap, and act as a technical expert in your main area(s) of focus. This role requires significant ability to “think big and work small,” collaborate with engineering teams and leadership across the organization, and build a lot of new things that will enable our engineering teams to move faster and work smarter. We run on Python, Java, Golang, Javascript, Kafka, Cassandra, MongoDB, several flavors of SQL DBs, and AWS infrastructure and services. We are currently moving to Python on AWS serverless technologies. This position requires experience with a significant number of these technologies, two of which must include Python and AWS infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities:

• Iteratively design and build solutions aligned to the roadmap
• Collaboratively plan the work required to deliver these solutions
• Serve as a subject matter expert in your primary area(s) of expertise
• Lead and participate in production support and incident response
• Communicate across the organization on all aspects of TechOps
• Work comfortably with diverse people and teams across the organization, from operations analysts to the CEO
• Believe in the Fama mission, work everyday to live that mission, and help others do the same
• Natural desire and ability to mentor and teach those you work with
• Belief that in the world of TechOps, documentation is not waste

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience building and managing software products on AWS cloud services, preferably focused on AWS serverless technologies
• 3+ years working within teams that believe in and live the principles of lean-agile, DevOps-guided product development
• Expert-level (at least 3, but preferably 5+, years) of hands-on experience in at least one of the primary areas of TechOps focus: DevOps, DataOps, SecOps, or ProdOps
• Intermediate-level (at least 1, but preferably 2+, years) of hands-on experience in the other primary areas of TechOps focus: DevOps, DataOps, SecOps, or ProdOps
• Regardless of area of expertise, have the desire and ability to participate in ProdOps within a high-volume SaaS company, including being on call to coordinate response to, and participate in the solution of, production issues
• Strong ability to communicate clearly and authoritatively with both technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to help determine when to build something ourselves, and when to buy technology to fit our use cases
• Assist in selecting vendors to provide solutions when we chose not to build them ourselves
