    CIC Philadelphia is looking for an experienced and ambitious person with experience building meaningful client and partner relationships to support our client community and drive new sales at our expanding location in Philadelphia. You will support client retention and new growth through a mission and community focused approach that draws upon your 5-7 years as a people and relationships focused leader.

    CIC Philadelphia is built to serve startups and serial entrepreneurs, with the goal of accelerating the development of new science and technology through the services we provide and the community we cultivate. The capstone of our Philadelphia location is a 90,000 square foot wet lab space that houses a cohort of life science companies who have raised over $1.66 billion in venture capital, created over 240 jobs in the Philadelphia area, and been award 67 patents. We are looking for an ambitious partnership-builder who is motivated by the ambitions of these amazing clients and who aims to meet their needs every day.

    CIC Philadelphia is located within uCity Square at 3675 Market Street, alongside our local partner, the University City Science Center. At 3675 Market, we offer world-class offices and one of the largest shared wet lab facilities in the nation, while the Science Center supports its nationally recognized technology commercialization programs, as well as new programs focused on mentoring, funding, strategy development and resources to accelerate businesses from idea to IPO and beyond.

    Our shared wet labs provide science start-ups a way to get to work and leave the operational details with us. With ample space, a wide range of equipment, basic lab supplies and inventory, and a dedicated team, our clients can keep their focus on the critical parts of their business while we do the rest. We staff our shared wet lab space to support and consolidate logistics, to enforce environmental health and safety protocols, and to provide access, orientation and guidance on the proper handling of all our shared lab equipment.

    YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK
    Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead the Sales and Strategic Partnership teams. You will be responsible for the strategy and integration across efforts to fill our center, provide the best client experience, and deepen our impact and community engagement in the life sciences.

    Strategy & Leadership:
    • Providing vision and direction to the sales and strategic partnership teams, while prioritizing a flawless client and partner experience
    • Acting as a high-level thought partner with the Managing Director on sales, product and programming strategy as well as partner engagement, aiming to improve overall client experience.
    • Aligning lab marketing and programming with sales, overseeing execution of activities to hit goals, and helping develop relevant marketing materials based on one’s deep understanding of our lab offerings.
    • Connecting with site leadership on both the shared labs and shared office arms of the business to share insights, stay synced on strategy, and implement best practices across departments and other centers, ensuring a seamless and integrated client experience
    • Providing consultative support on future expansion projects involving shared wet lab services, consolidating learnings and working with corporate to share them
    • Leading the creation of our annual impact report, as well as storytelling and metrics that support business development and partnership efforts

    Management:
    • Managing ~5 direct reports across the Relationship Management (sales) and Strategic Partnerships teams (which includes event roles); prioritizing needs and assigning work
    • Developing, guiding, and building upon a high performing and diverse team focused on operational excellence.
    • Collaborating with the lab and office operations team leads to ensure teams work seamlessly and collaboratively, strategically looking out for the needs and morale of staff.
    • Cultivating, fostering and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring culture.

    Strategic Partnerships & Programming:
    • Managing high-level partnerships, both internally (primary academic partnership, building owners and management, unique client exchanges) and external, city-wide partnerships, often independently and other times alongside the Managing Director.
    • Developing and expanding lab sponsorship program to secure equipment and in-kind support for our clients, and provide meaningful ways for sponsors and clients to engage
    • Liaising with corporate teams regarding opportunities to scale partnerships across the network
    • Collaborating with the Venture Cafe team on programming to ensure cohesion and community engagement (both the CIC community and Venture Cafe community).
    • Representing the organization at events, through networking or speaking opportunities, and as an active partner member of the life sciences community.
    • Serving as an ally and partnering with a wide network of local stakeholders to creatively build opportunities for the site, the clients it serves, and the local community

    Sales:
    • Collaborating with internal leaders on existing client retention and support, sales methods and lead development, as well as generating new initiatives to better support client needs, and adapting and enacting new strategies as needed.
    • Developing and implementing outbound strategies for sales
    • Owning responsibility for the sales system management and revenue/goal tracking for CIC Philadelphia.
    • Lead through doing, including directly managing a portfolio of high profile clients and leading sales tours; Overseeing client issues that surpass the authority of RM or Operations team
    • Driving the creation and implementation of new programs and initiatives around new sales, client support, and overall business development, both independently and in support of the GM.     YOU HAVE
    • At least 6-8 years of professional experience with at least 2-3 year in a client facing role and at least 3-5 years of experience in managing teams and developing staff, and overseeing a budget.
    • Evidenced growth and increase in responsibility and success in previous roles.
    • Familiarity with marketing and business development tactics.
    • Experience in a client-service environment.
    • Experience in life sciences with a pre-existing network, or an interest in the industry with a proven track record of building a network in a new environment.
    • An interest in a long-term role - we are a growing company, and we like to hire people who can grow with us over the years.
    • Conversational fluency in foreign languages is a strong plus.
