    Job description

Located in Tees Valley, one of the north's best kept secrets, Teesside University is a fantastic place to build a future. As part of our IT team, you'll work on a friendly campus that's receiving £multi-million investment, and enjoy a host of benefits. Best of all, you'll be integral to our strategy - delivering excellence for students, partners and society.

As a Principal Technician, you'll be the key to smooth running network services. At this level, you'll be an experienced expert, producing outline network designs and overall architectures, while managing IT infrastructure. Day to day, you'll plan maintenance and installation work; implement changes; and lead the design and deployment of release packages. And, as a specialist, you'll give advice, shape network support and help to resolve network problems.

With projects to deliver and Change Management to consider, this is an important, wide-ranging role. Strong technical expertise is essential and you'll need to be up to speed on IT networking protocols; hardware firewalls; network analysis tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark); wireless technologies; and virtual server environments. You'll have gained your knowledge through an IT degree (or equivalent) and through hands-on trouble-shooting. A champion of innovation, collaboration and best practice, you'll work with others to raise standards and get the best results.

Join us, and you'll enjoy a raft of rewards: flexible working options, family-friendly perks, career development opportunities - and that's just the start. Our £275m investment in our campus means the University is a wonderful place to work and study, with countryside, coast and culture all in easy reach. Apply now - and help us deliver ambition today.
