The Role
The Online Customer Experience team is looking for a Senior User Experience Designer (SUXD) who will play an essential role in supporting the UX team's objectives of delivering effective and efficient experiences to the users of our ecosystem of platforms.
This ecosystem is comprised of a suite of orchestrated platforms and services that work well together to serve customer needs.
The SUXD will be passionate about human-centred design and driven by optimising discoverability, usability, accessibility, credibility, and desirability and will be joining a friendly and highly collaborative UX team.
Main responsibilities
About you
You will have senior level experience, gained through years of working client or agency side, with experience managing/mentoring junior members of the team, even if it was not in a formal role i.e., you don't need have had a managerial job title, as long as you can evidence your experience.
You will be the right person for the role if you are generous with your knowledge and although people gravitate towards you for advice, you don't think of yourself as UX Guru, but instead as an enabler, who has pleasure in helping people to go further.
Formal qualifications and certifications are very much welcome, however your knowledge and experience combined with good case studies/examples of work will bear greater weight in our assessment.
The new SUXD will put the user at the heart of what they do and empathise with researchers, lecturers, students, librarians and publishing partners to understand the best way to deliver delightful and intuitive experiences, in line with our Customer Experience strategy & the wider Academic Publishing strategy.
The role holder will facilitate design workshops, sketch, wireframe and prototype user interfaces and work closely with the Online Customer Experience team members to balance business requirements and user needs across all Academic Publishing digital platforms.
They will demonstrate through a portfolio or selection of case studies, expertise in conducting the appropriate UX process to deliver designs. They will optimise end-users' experience and support the delivery of innovative experiences.
In addition, they will manage junior roles overseeing their work and assisting with their professional development as needed.
