    Sr. Manager Software Development

    The successful candidate will take on the leadership of the software teams for our instrument and analysis software. We are looking for a strong technical lead who enjoys managing teams of people and will help us to transition to autonomous embedded instrument control software, and cloud-based analysis solutions.

    • Manages the Life Science software teams in the Imaging & Detection CoE
    • Designs and develops scalable software solutions for use in scientific environments
    • Works with LS product management and fellow R&D leaders to develop a long-term software and instrument roadmap, leveraging reuse, scalability and wide value
    • Works with fellow software leaders and the PKI Systems Architect to drive partnered approach in architecting innovative solutions for broad use
    • Develops and coaches the software teams with respect to technical competence, development processes and tools
    • Drives an agile software development approach
     

    Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Diploma or master’s degree in sciences or engineering
    • 5 - 10 years’ experience in leading Life Science, Biotech (or related) systems development and associate software design & delivery
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, including cross-functional communication.
    • Experience with agile software development techniques, especially Scrum.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Several years of professional experience with and solid knowledge of cloud application architecture and development
    • Expertise in at least one object-oriented language
    • Experience with development for Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
    • Practical experience with database technologies (SQL or NoSQL), at least one well-known web framework  
    • Experience with product development of instrumentation systems
    • Knowledgeable in scientific computing and image analysis
