    Job description

The location of these roles if flexible and they can be based at our Defence sites at Corsham (SN13), Central London (SW1) or Northwood (HA6). With regular travel between these sites will be required.

The New style of IT (Base) programme was conceived, in 2015, to transform MOD's ageing legacy IT. It provides the desktops, laptops (Win 10) and tablets, and the core functionality (Office365, software patches and security updates and more) at both the Official and Secret security tiers.

Programme objectives are to transform the delivery of ICT across Defence to users in offices and bases across the UK and overseas, providing a new IT system that exploits the power of cloud computing, along with Microsoft Office 365 software, securely delivering greater agility and mobility to our personnel wherever they may be. These objectives have largely been achieved and the programme is preparing to close.

MODNET Evolve programme will take over New style of IT (Base) programme sustaining the essential base ICT infrastructure needed by the MOD at OFFICIAL & SECRET. It comprises the End User Services (EUS) Contract, Records Management Capability and Managed Print Services.

The overarching objective is the procurement and delivery of a set of services that provide MOD users with core desktop ICT services at OFFICIAL and SECRET. These services will provide the hardware, software and service management capabilities (e.g. help desk support) that MOD personnel at base locations (UK and overseas) need.

Role two: Senior Responsible Owner - Next Generation Communications Network (NGCN) programme

"The Ministry of Defence requires secure, resilient, flexible and assured provision of core network capability that underpins delivery of information services at all security classifications. It must: permit operation of existing services; enable interoperability across Defence and with partners across government, allies, and industry; and be adaptable to meet changing operational, organisational and technical circumstances to deliver Defence outputs."

The Next Generation Communications Network programme is one of the key programmes that will enable delivery of the Defence Digital Strategy.

The programme forms a core part of the singular, secure and modern Digital Backbone and is the foundation for introducing the pan-defence communications infrastructure set out in the Defence Digital Strategy.

Next Generation Communications Network programme will deliver the MOD single enterprise voice and data network of the future:

    The programme has two parts:

    • Design and implementation of the single enterprise network and service model.
    • Exit of the existing fixed networks legacy contracts.

    Closing date: 17 April 2022.
