    About the Role

    In this role, you will work closely with the Engineering, Product Management, Strategy and Customer Success teams to define and drive the forward vision to design, build, and maintain multiple data transformation, loading, and two-way integration services as a core part of the Coursedog system. The objectives are to 1) address continuously changing, high volumes of complex data, with instantaneous/near real-time delivery of data all while ensuring accuracy, security, and reliability, and 2) accelerate our customers’ movement of their core business onto Coursedog 3) incorporate flexibility into the architecture of solutions to accommodate unique client requirements and implementations within the structure of the platform

    What you will do

     

    Contribute business insight, technical expertise and acumen, and best practices to the cloud platform, data, and integration teams where design, strategy, product management, and engineering collaborate closely

    Guide technology decisions for a data orchestration engine that accepts inbound data files of many types to tie the Coursedog platform

    Deliver an integrations service that enables custom and reusable interfaces to various Student Information Systems with common integration infrastructure

    Collaboration with customer success to drive development, evaluation, and improvement of implementation processes.

    Lead the analysis and recommendation of critical Build vs. Buy vs. Partner decisions to ensure a holistic, scalable solution with a long-term view in mind

    Own and manage all partnerships with third party companies used within the data engineering team

    Take into account all users and use cases of the data and integration services when making key product and technical decisions

    Have end-to-end responsibility for technical facets and flow of data in a complex system, including the product, infrastructure, security and quality

    Coach, mentor, and manage multiple teams of engineers that are responsible for delivering a high performing, secure enterprise data and integrations service

    Provide leadership for the entire software development process: from requirements and design reviews to technology selection and implementation through delivery and support in production

    Leveraging organizational design methodology, manage resource allocations for product engineers and track completion of deliverables for each team

    Impact a developing tech stack based on modern front-end frameworks and cost-efficient utilization of AWS back-end services

    Build a diverse technical team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment

    Ensure close relationships in a remote-first organization, connecting our product and engineering teams around the world (U.S., Brazil, Canada, Poland, India)

     

    Functional Experience

     

    Extensive knowledge and experience developing and/or utilizing flat-file, API, or ETL technologies for data mapping, translation, and analysis.

    Experiencing calling REST APIs to perform data review, examine data structures for potential issues and manipulate CSV and JSON Data.

    Plus: Hands-on experience with Higher Education Enterprise applications and one or more Enterprise Student Information Systems (Ellucian Banner, Oracle Peoplesoft Campus, Workday, etc.)

    Experience with complex data problems  originating from user inputs, system transformations, or end-system processing in the context of a transactional relationship that receives AND sends information between systems

     

    Required Expertise

     

    5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technology role in the SAAS sector

    5+ years of experience managing Managers, Integration Engineers, Data Engineers and projects involving web technology, data migration, translation, and transformation between data sources.

    A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or  equivalent experience

    Knowledge of NodeJS,  and related modern cloud development technologies

    A history of architecting and designing large data volume products and technologies in the cloud

    Engages with stakeholders to understand the business problems that need to be solved with an entrepreneurial mindset

    Experience supporting both managers and individual contributors and an ability to keep a pulse on people throughout a complex and fast paced organization

    Clear and crisp communicator

    Ability to lead and influence both with and without authority

    Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and architectural patterns

    Ability to focus on short-term deliverables while maintaining a big-picture perspective

    An aptitude for problem-solving

    Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels

    Experience recruiting, evaluating talent, and building software development teams
