Position Overview:
We are looking for a Software QA Manager to lead a team solving complex robotics problems with innovative solutions. As a core member of Brain Corporation, you will work with our world-class team of engineers and developers to build the Quality Assurance department and implement a best-in-class quality process. This means leading our Software QA Engineers and to provide coaching, direction, and ensuring they have the tools to succeed. Your contributions will be pivotal in advancing our mission: Safe and reliable robots everywhere.
This position is located in our San Diego headquarters and reports to the Vice President of Engineering. This position will require travel (~5%).
Essential Job Functions:
Lead day-to-day management of the software team including stand-ups and project prioritization
Lead the development of detailed end-to-end test plans and processes to meet quality objectives and product requirements
Work closely with SW/HW/FW engineers and product management to ensure we have an acceptable test coverage
Build a corporate test process including automated testing capabilities
Design and develop the testing frameworks and benches needed to optimize and scale our testing efforts
Drive our products daily and report / diagnose issues
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
Past experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, and systems engineering test team leadership
5+ years of Software Testing/QA Engineer experience
5+ years of management / leadership experience
10+ years of experience as an engineer or leader
Experience in building QA departments at a small company going through high growth
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
Strong coding abilities in Python or C/C++ and familiarity with Linux
Experienced with SDLC and CI/CD processes
Demonstrated experience implementing CI/CD and SDLC into a QA department
Desire to work in a face paced, demanding and highly collaborative environment
Things that make a difference:
Experience testing to functional safety requirements is highly preferred
Experience in autonomous vehicles or related industry is a benefit
