The Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team here at Highlight. Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance, we’re looking for someone who can work independently but also has a strong ability to contribute to team efforts. While this position will be focused primarily on day-to-day accounting operations, they will also collaborate cross-functionally on other initiatives / ad-hoc projects. This role is designed to give a ton of exposure not only to the full accounting function but also to various aspects of the business including strategic finance, giving significant visibility into how a growing startup grows and scales.

Responsibilities

 

Own full range general ledger activities to ensure an accurate and timely month-close, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations

Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements to ensure financial reporting accuracy and provide context to support the numbers

Preparation and maintenance of all supporting schedules, including prepaids, accruals and depreciation & amortization

Own Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes, partnering with various stakeholders to ensure timely collection of customer payments + timely payments to vendors

Develop and document accounting processes + policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Identify and drive process improvement opportunities and efforts to streamline Accounting operations and improve the quality of the close

 

Requirements

 

You have 4+ years experience in Accounting, B2B/SaaS startup strongly preferred

You have a very strong understanding of US GAAP, with experience identifying, researching and resolving technical accounting issues

You have a proven track record of identifying and executing on process improvements and internal control documentation

You are a tech-savvy Excel power user with experience using Quickbooks Online and other systems like Rippling (PEO), HubSpot (CRM), Looker (BI)

You have a collaborative attitude, with proven ability to work with cross-functional teams

You're a proactive, passionate and agile self-starter who can multitask, think creatively, and learn quickly

CPA not required but is a big plus
