    About IT Services

    IT Services at the University of Manchester is a vibrant and fast-moving department, we focus on delivering excellent customer service and quality services for our staff, students and researchers. 

    The Team

    The role will be joining the newly formed Technology division, comprising teams who look after core technology functions for the University.

    The Role

    The IT Environmental Sustainability (ES) Manager will support the Associate Director - Technology in the development and implementation of the ITS ES strategy. The post holder will also take the lead on the creation, management, and delivery of the ITS ES plan in order to enact the strategy. They will work to embed ES into ITS operational decision-making, services, and products.

    The IT ES Manager will be responsible for ensuring the ITS Directorate contributes proportionately to the University's Sustainability targets, including our "zero carbon by 2038" commitment. To achieve this the post holder will work alongside other ITS and ES colleagues co-ordinating, learning, and applying best practice from within and beyond the University. Ultimately, the post holder will help put the ITS Directorate on course to become a sector leader in ‘Green IT'.

    Contract duration: 12 months

    The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

    • A passion for driving IT sustainability and form a strategy.
    • Understanding of IT services function within an organisation to help inform decisions around sustainability options.
    • The ability to engage key stakeholders across IT functions, university and wider community.
    • Skills to research into new areas of IT sustainability innovation and potential funding initiatives available.
