    Job description

Join John Lewis or Waitrose today

If you've ever stepped through the doors of a John Lewis or Waitrose shop, shopped online, or seen any of our adverts, you'll know there's something unique about us.

That unique proposition is our Partners. As co-owners they have a say in our business and receive a share of the profits, so they put time and effort into making it work. Our Partners are the reason we're the success we are. They're our secret sauce; the opportunity for us to differentiate.

    At a glance:

    • Flexible Working: This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will be split between working from home and the London or Bracknell Head Office. This is determined by the needs of your team and may mean that you do not come into the office for weeks or months at a time unless you choose to. If you choose to work remotely, you should be aware that you will need to come into the office.

    • Salary range: £47,100 - £69,500

    • Contract type: Permanent

You will be using your excellent Kotlin or Java skills to build and support new features adding value for Our Business. As a Back-End Engineer, you will also use your knowledge of Software Engineering to support the shaping of new projects and support the professional development of less experienced Engineers.

Successful candidates will have a passion for using technology to deliver outstanding and innovative software solutions, and will have a track record of working in teams delivering complex, performant, high quality software.

    • REST API development and/or consumption.

    • Experience with Cloud Platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
