Human civilization has come full circle as we grapple with food security. The world needs to produce 70% more food by 2050 to feed our population. Water and arable land are depleting, and the walls are closing in. to ensure global food security, pollination plays a critical role which is grossly under-appreciated.
We have noticed an anomaly; there are sectors in agriculture where natural pollinators cannot be used and the only way to pollinate is by hand. Two such sectors are indoor vertical farms and hybrid seeds.
Polybee aims to empower these industries with greater control over the process of pollination. Our core capability is to build small sized drones that can be precisely controlled and navigated in an indoor environment. We are jointly running pilot trials with Singapore Food Agency, the government's statutory board to ensure food supply and security. We are also in advanced discussions with 9 of the world;s leading vertical farming companies, with two pilots in the pipeline in Q4 2019. A pilot trial is lined up with another leading seed company in Q42019.
Job Description
We are hiring a full-time aerial robotics engineer. You will lead the product development and the execution of pilot trials. If you are fast learner and a hustler, Polybee wants to hear from you.
Responsibilities
As an aerial robotics engineer, you have full creative authority in delivering Polybee's pilot trials and product development. You will build a drone platform from scratch which is capable of autonomous indoor flight. The use case for this drone is to collect high-res NIR and RGB images as well as 3D reconstruction of certain objects in an indoor farming setting. Ideally, you would have demonstrated experience in visual SLAM, perception, stereo-vision, and sensor fusion.
