BOLT was conceptualised with the belief that access to information, education, and entertainment is a universal right for everyone. We aim to bring more access to information and equality of opportunity on a global scale. Currently operating across continents and serving communities of users in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, BOLT aims to be the world’s first open entertainment economy, guided by the principle that we are empowering the community we are serving.
Design plays a critical part in achieving our mission. Reporting to the Head of Design & User Experience, you will help in bridging the information gap between the powerful technology we are creating and the typical user to bring the most unique impact. This communication is what will help us to grow massively, and gain broad adoption. As the Brand/Communications designer, you will create the visual language to educate and engage people who use our platform, and to those who are just starting to explore. We cannot usher in the world’s first open entertainment economy if we cannot convey our brand to the world.
Take the rare chance to join a team that is rapidly expanding, and in a space that’s ripe for disruption - here is where you will get the chance to shape it. Help us tell our story.
Here's a bit about you, the candidate we'd like to join us:
- You’re a born storyteller.
You know how to take complicated concepts and ideas, and translate it into easy to understand, engaging presentations for different audiences.
- You express yourself visually.
Thinking visually comes naturally to you. You love to take the abstract and make it visual. You have a litany of tools at your disposal: motion graphics, sketching, and of course visual design.
- Collaboration is your best method.
You enjoy engaging other people on your team to generate and evaluate ideas and to produce executed work. You know that design is about launching and working constructively with people across all phases of development, including engineers and business folks to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges.
You learn, you stretch.
Even if you're not expert at the things listed above, you are interested in expanding your skills as a designer, learning from your peers and from your own practice. You listen to feedback, you pursue improvement, and you give yourself room to feel satisfied with what you've accomplished.
What you’ll do
- In this fast-paced role, the team will look to you to provide creative, effective and impactful ideas for content, both static and digital. You’ll take your ideas from concept through to completion – from the creation of visuals, copywriting to web layout and online publishing.

- Collaborate with external stakeholders, clients and cross-functional teams to concept and design for the brand, communications, and marketing projects.
- Create consistent executions across multiple platforms
- High-quality presentations of work, really the teams around ideas and sell through concepts to key stakeholders at all levels of leadership
- Give and receive feedback from other designers to raise our bar for quality
- Provide additional design support as and when needed
You should have
- Extremely high polished visual portfolio of design work
- Understanding of what makes great brands thrive and how design plays the role
- 5+ years experience designing impactful brand experiences
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities
- Have clear communication, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with urgency, while maintaining a positive attitude
- A strong sense of storytelling - you are able to translate data and information into visual narratives that drive a point or tell a story
- A broad understanding of using different mediums/channels to get your message across. Skilled at telling the same story across multiple channels
- You pay attention to details and can meet tight deadlines even when juggling multiple projects and managing different stakeholders. As a bridge to the marketing team, you should understand the importance of performance-led marketing as well.
Nice-to-haves
- It will be great if you have experience working in a digital/technology environment or an agency.
- Product and UI/UX design would be great. If you speak code, that would impress us even further.
