Salary: Approximately £45,000 per annum
Contract: Fixed Term: 6 months maternity cover with the possibility of extension to 12 months (Full time)
The British Museum has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Major Gifts: Capital to join the Development department and play a key role in implementing the Museum’s fundraising strategy by securing major gifts in support of the Museum’s capital projects, alongside the Director of Development.
The post-holder will develop a detailed expertise on a portfolio of key capital projects and will identify a fully researched prospect list, whilst ensuring that financial targets for the capital projects are achieved. The role will involve maintaining the highest standard of donor care and developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Educated to degree level, or equivalent, the successful candidate will possess significant experience of capital fundraising and individual fundraising for a major cultural institution, with knowledge of using fundraising databases. You will have a good understanding of tax efficient giving - both UK and international - and will have strong project and people management skills.
As a highly motivated individual, you will seek to meet financial targets and tight deadlines, and will be willing to work outside of normal office hours and travel, as appropriate. With excellent social skills, you will have a diplomatic manner and will be respectful of clients and colleagues.
