    An exciting opportunity has arisen at the British Museum for a Curator to join the Greece and Rome department and undertake curatorial activities centred on the Roman collections of the Museum, including their research, documentation, publication and display.

    As Curator, you will develop research projects, including securing external funding; maintain and develop the displays in the permanent galleries; contribute to the BM’s special exhibitions programme and contribute to the UK and international loans and exhibitions programmes.

    The successful candidate will possess a relevant degree and a PhD in a relevant area of research, or equivalent, and will be specialised in a particular aspect of Roman material culture. You will have proven curatorial experience including research, documentation, cataloguing and presentation of collections of Roman material in museums, universities or elsewhere.

    We are looking for a positive individual who is able to mentor and motivate others, with the ability to develop line-management skills. As an excellent communicator, you will be able to maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. A publication record in book, article, catalogue or electronic form is essential.
