About us
Mrs Wordsmith is on a mission to revolutionise education and make kids fall in love with learning by bringing world class animation and gaming talent to the sector.
We are building a 3D interactive and animated game world Generation Alpha. Children aged 4-10 can navigate the world designed by our Hollywood artists and accelerate their vocabulary. You will have the opportunity to also work with a team of games developers and technical artists from Natural Motion, Mindshapes, Marco Polo and beyond.
The company is venture backed by leading UK, US and Chinese investors. We recently raised an $11.5 million round of funding.funding.
About the role
As a Unity Developer at Mrs Wordsmith, you will work as part of a team of highly talented and innovative app developers and designers building an industry-defining 3D mobile game (iOs and Android) with a simple mission: to teach children the words they need to succeed. Building on the work of our world-class machine learning and curriculum teams, our apps bring learning to life through hilariously illustrated words and interactive animations featuring our band of engaging characters.
At Mrs Wordsmith, we believe in the magic that happens when data and creativity meet. As a result, our approach to learning is deeply rooted in research and pedagogy but is reliant on our hilarious illustrations and animations. Through your work developing our apps, you will be responsible for bringing these two sides together in a consumer product that not only engages children in learning but delights them and introduces them to the Mrs Wordsmith world.
Salary £40,000-80,000 depending on level of experience
MUST BE BASED IN LONDON
Our app developers are highly knowledgeable and resourceful in their approach to problem solving. You will regularly be required to:
* Work closely with our VP Digital, app team and creative teams to turn product specifications and design prototypes into fully functional mobile applications
* Contribute development ideas to the team, prototyping and iterating until all stakeholders (including the CEO) are happy with the results
* Collaborate with the rest of the app and design team to produce world-class products
* Work independently to tight development deadlines to deliver new features and functionality to new and existing applications
* Present your work and your ideas to the rest of your team and, where you're comfortable doing so, the rest of the company to let everyone know about the exciting things you're working on
This role is perfect for a full time mobile app developer with good experience working in games using Unity (C#) and has great experience with native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Java). We are looking for someone to join the team on a full-time basis working in our newly renovated, spacious warehouse office in Clerkenwell, London.

* Mobile app development experience using Unity (C#) plus native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Java)
* Previous experience working in the games industry or with games applications
* An impressive portfolio of work that demonstrates a strong grasp of mobile app development
* Resilient and able to quickly iterate over ideas to get the best outcome for the product
* Excellent planning and organisational skills
* Ability to work fast, under tight production deadlines
* Enthusiastic about the challenge of bringing learning to life
