Job Description

As a Solution Architect in the SMTS( a.k.a SmartMFG & AI Technical Solution team) at Micron, you will be responsible for the following: Leading and coordinating with customers and stakeholders to provide high-level architectural guidance for future needs and optimize the Capability Roadmaps to reflect those.

The SMTS Architect is also responsible for the ongoing partnership and communication with our internal users, Data Science team members, Site IT, other IT teams, and with executive level business owners to develop and advance Micron’s Systems. The SMTS Architect is also responsible to coordinate the Architecture Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Use Architecture Reviews and Roadmap Management processes to ensure the value and flexibility for our systems.

• Partner with customers to evaluate our current state and create/update Capability roadmaps to achieve the future state objective
• Evaluate Requests for Architecture from customers/stakeholders for SMTS architecture changes and drive to implementation
• Ensure that requirements (infrastructure planning, budgeting, training, training for support teams, etc.) are captured for new technology implementations
• Manage service area technology building blocks and roadmaps
• Manage changes (additions, retirements, updating accuracy, etc.) to the product catalog for a given domain

Provide high-level direction to strategic suppliers to ensure the architecture meets the needs of the business.

• Translate the business needs to technical requirements
• Arrange demonstrations of new software systems
• Review existing licensing and contracts to negotiate optimal licensing terms (ongoing)
• Work with Legal and Procurement to establish Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Statement of Work (SOW), and Professional Service Agreements (PSA)

Maintain technical, solution, and domain subject matter expertise to help provide input regarding future requirements.

• Research best practices, current trends, technologies, and techniques
• Attend training, conferences, webinars, and seminars related to the domain area
• Support portfolio and prioritization processes
• Support future state (capability roadmaps)
• Oversee implementation of new technologies and retirement of deprecated technologies
• Identify data requirements of projects, and ensure use of standardized master data and registration of new sources and uses of master data, and compliance to company data governance standards
• Define architectural direction for re-engineering existing data assets and for new initiatives (e.g. master data management)
• Enable and support data governance to ensure structure, procedures, quality, accuracy, alignment, and standards

Education

Bachelors Degree

Masters Degree

• Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS)
• Related field of study

Experience

5 years experience in any of the following:

Project Architecture, Project Management or Technical/Management Leadership (preferred)

10 years experience in any of the following:

• Information Technology (I.T.) or a Business Domain
• Required Technical skill ( not necessary to meet all, the more the better )
• Hadoop
• Snowflake  ( other MPP is fine, snowflake is preferred)
• Docker ( container-based application development is preferred)
• Nifi ( other ETL tool is fine, Nifi is preferred )
• Spark
• Python
• CI/CD ( Jenkins/K8S/openshift)
• Container-based application development

• Qualifications
• Possess a strong understanding of the business and Information Technology
• A strong background in influencing all levels of workers including executives
• Ability to lead and influence outcomes across the business, with or without authority
• Ability to create a vision for the technology and I.T. while remaining practical with the business applicability
