Job Description
Will lead Poshmark’s financial planning and reporting function to support the rapid growth of the Company. You will provide executive leadership with critical insights into the P&L by leading our monthly close reporting. You’ll drive the cost side of FP&A, from developing budgets to identifying and presenting opportunities to optimize costs. This role requires a strong interest in puzzle solving, ability to recognize patterns, and a curiosity to understand the “why” behind business trends. You will build strong cross-functional relationships and be comfortable and effective at communicating finance concepts to colleagues with a variety of professional backgrounds. Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership with actionable business insights and recommendations to drive growth while optimizing costs - including strategic decisions on pricing, product, and policies
- Build and maintain bottom-up forecasting models for variable costs, while improving predictive accuracy and furthering the automation of these models
- Lead cost planning by developing budgets, tracking, and explaining variance
- Build out finance tools to automate our processes and drive efficiency
- Collaborate with accounting, data analytics, and business systems teams, as well as stakeholders across the company on all of the above
- Serve the Poshmark user community by identifying and pursuing opportunities to make their Poshmark experience even better
6-Month Accomplishments:
- Develop a firm grasp of Poshmark’s key business metrics and their drivers; proactively identify changes in trends and be able to explain underlying causes
- Demonstrate a perspective on cost planning that balances business investment needs with margin objectives, and be able to provide recommendations that reflect this thinking
- Take cost planning to the next level by automating and improving on current processes to increase cost predictability and improve planning efficiency
12+ Month Accomplishments:
- Partner cross-functionally with teams within the organization to solve business problems, and develop a strong relationship with the stakeholders
- Demonstrate a command of cost drivers, data sources and planning assumptions… be the team’s “go to” person for all things cost related
- Proactively identify and drive new initiatives/projects to increase operational efficiencies and support rapid growth
Minimum Skills and Experience:
- BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar
- 3-5 years in Finance, Banking, and/or Management Consulting
- An understanding of corporate financial planning, modeling, reporting and analysis
- Highly analytical, detail oriented and inquisitive
- Proven ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, growing and ambiguous environment
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to collaborate constructively with, and influence business partners
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in startup or high-growth company corporate finance
- Experience with Adaptive or similar planning tools
- Experience in or understanding of e-commerce and/or marketplace business models
