We are looking to hire an in-house Legal Counsel to be based in either Hong Kong or Taipei, Taiwan.

YOUR TASKS:
Lead company-wide efforts on all legal matters including:
- Identifying and consulting on legal risks in connection with the development of new services and products, expansion into new markets, and/or regulated areas or those related to privacy, information security, and compliance
- Reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and overseeing the approval process for commercial contracts and agreements and outsourcing arrangements in collaboration with the local business units and regional teams
- Provide legal advice on data privacy requirements to support the business globally.
- Providing time-sensitive support on a wide array of legal enquiries in connection with all aspects of Hyphen Group's operations including employment issues, dispute resolution and litigious matters
- Interfacing with local regulators and other regional officials to ensure compliance with licensing and other regulatory agencies
- Building upon existing policies and frameworks, and developing new processes and procedures, leveraging on technology, to improve the legal function and drive the group legal strategy forward
- Researching, analysing and staying on top of legal developments concerning a wide range of disciplines including fintech, insurance, IP, data privacy, AML etc.
- Provide in-house training to team members on legal and compliance matters
- Directing, supervising, and managing outside counsel, including management of external legal expenditure
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Common law qualified lawyer with at least 3 years’ PQE.
- In-house counsel experience with internet or technology company or financial institution is required
- Experience dealing with regulator (HKMA, MAS, FSC) preferred
- Familiar with local laws and regulations and must be fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin Chinese
- Intellectually robust, capable, and able to articulate your approach, analysis and conclusions clearly
- Good judgment and time management skills, and can prioritize and work effectively under pressure
- Strong commercial and business acumen, with and ability to use legal skills, judgment, and experience to achieve a practical outcome
