Our Strategic Portfolio and Business Development division oversees the strategic development and investment management of the Classifieds Media portfolio companies within the Axel Springer Group. These include the Stepstone Group (job platforms), the AVIV Group (real estate platforms, e.g. Immowelt and SeLoger), and the Idealo Group (price comparison and e-commerce marketplaces).
Our team is a trusted advisor and sparring partner for our assets’ executive management and Axel Springer’s top management. We drive transformational change by leading high-impact projects and strategic initiatives across the group. We actively expand our portfolio through new investments and organic growth initiatives in Europe and beyond, and we constantly screen trends and drive innovation management in the space of Classifieds Media, e-commerce, and technology.
Become a_
(Senior) Associate for Strategic Portfolio and Business Development and help us pursue a growth strategy with our shareholders. The position is comprised of the following tasks:
Portfolio Manager
- oversee a portfolio of digital assets, monitor their performance, and support the execution of their strategic objectives
- be the key point of contact for our asset’s management teams and board members
- manage complex projects in all business areas related to growth, strategic re-organization, commercial due diligence/M&A etc.
- be responsible for presentations and analyses required by the Axel Springer Board of Directors and Supervisory Board
- track KPIs and implement action plans to create value
Strategic Growth and Business Development Manager
- identify trends and growth potentials, drive innovative business models, and implement growth strategies
- support our portfolio companies with business development initiatives across all major business functions, including Product, Marketing, Engineering and Finance
- coordinate cross-asset collaboration by organizing workshops & leading projects
- develop the overall Classifieds Media strategy beyond the current portfolio
You are a_
Business development and strategy specialist with relevant experience, either in a top-tier management/strategy consultancy, a strategic corporate function or in a digital start-up/tech company
- excellent degree from a leading university in a business-related field
- able to analyse financial reports and statements and present them to senior management
- 2+ years of work experience in a similar role
- M&A and asset management are a strong plus
- in-depth know-how of and enthusiasm for digital business models
- insight knowledge of the relevant digital industries, particularly e-commerce and real estate, is a huge plus
- hands-on experience in operational areas such as online marketing, digital product management, pricing & commercial models, technology & data
- strong analytical skills
- entrepreneurial mindset (can-do-attitude) and strategic thinking with curiosity to go beyond the obvious
- self-driven and independent working style
- fluent in German and English
- good communicator and confident social skills, to be able to interact at all levels with employees and management across multiple cultures and geographies
- a solid sense of good humour
