    工作機會描述

This role is remote-first, but candidates should live in the SF Bay Area to visit clients.

Ganymede is building AWS for the sciences, with a mission of improving the world through better healthcare outcomes. We believe that the highest leverage approach to speed up science is through better software and data connectivity.

As a founding forward-deployed software engineer (FDE), you'll work directly with client-side scientists and engineers to understand their most important problems and automate them away using Ganymede’s platform. You’ll be the tip of the spear of our efforts to accelerate science, and will have a highly independent and varied role in owning the implementation and success of Ganymede. Client needs often start from a very broad and under-defined question, such as “how can I automatically track data about this experiment?”, and Ganymede will rely on you to creatively derive and implement a solution to achieve real-world impact.

FDEs are effectively CTOs of their clients for clients’ Ganymede builds. Ganymede forms the core data backbone of labs and scientific manufacturing, so you’ll wear many hats:

    • Client Owner: own implementation by working with client executives and users to define and prioritize problems, building a deep understanding of their lab instruments and scientific analysis, and then configuring Ganymede’s platform setup and low-code pipelines to automate these details. You’ll be the expert on your clients’ scientific data, processes, and operations (no prior scientific background required)
    • Software Engineer: You’ll help define the architecture needed for the Ganymede core platform with fellow engineers, integrate our web backend and infra into client systems, and maybe do some direct work with biotech lab instrument hardware too.
    • Program Manager: Day-to-day work will be a combination of scrappy implementation to maintain our pace, and careful strategic planning to avoid and reduce tech debt in the future. You’ll help keep things organized on the client implementation side, as well as help muster overall Ganymede resources to achieve success with your clients.
    • Quality Steward: Work in life sciences may require compliance with standard operating procedures and adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). You’ll help deliver agile, compliant innovations to high-value scientific work
    • Culture Carrier: You'll also be a key determinant of our culture, and will help us grow and set norms for the business as we scale.

    Our principles

    • Improving lives through better medicine: we’re intensely mission-focused, and are building a highly scalable business to make an impact on society.
    • Kindness: we come from a future where all human beings are treated with dignity, inclusivity, and active empathy, so we apply that to ourselves first in how we hire and treat each other.
    • Transparency: we are one team, and hold that openness is foundational to ensuring fairness, and that our actions tie to our shared mission.
    • Accountability: we believe that trust is the basis for building anything substantial, and stems from our being accountable to ourselves and each other.

    Requirements

    What we look for:

    • This role is remote-first, but candidates should live in the SF Bay Area.
    • 1+ years of experience working in a software engineering, data science, lab science, or other highly technical role
    • Proficiency with Python or Javascript/Typescript, experience implementing apps or conducting analyses with them, and experience with SQL and/or Pandas
    • Hungry curiosity and motivation to learn about and solve data problems for clients with the rest of the Ganymede team, spanning from automating Excel models up to designing high-scale imaging pipelines in cloud infrastructure
    • Excellent collaboration skills in both written and verbal forms, as well as via clear, cleanly written code
    • Willingness and interest to travel as needed to client sites in the Bay Area and potentially out of state. Ability to travel 30-60% time preferred
    • Desire to improve software infrastructure for scientists advancing the health and welfare of people

Pluses (but not required by any means!):

    • Familiarity with scientific instrumentation, lab automation, or robotics in a software context
    • Background in hardware automation, firmware development, or low-level systems design
    • Experience developing software that works with GCP, Azure, or AWS

    Benefits

    • Compensation for this role will range from 150-200k based on seniority, along with a significant equity stake at above-market levels for a startup of our size.
    • Remote-first role and culture, with periodic reimbursed travel for the team to meet together
    • Significant equity as an early employee
    • Unlimited PTO & sick days
    • Excellent health benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision), life, and disability insurance
