    About the jobWe are Leaf

Leaf is on a mission to upend the way companies buy and sell transportation. Every year, billions of dollars, hundreds of megatons of carbon and millions of person-hours are wasted because the companies who ship goods and the companies who carry them aren’t upfront about their needs and abilities. Our platform finds ways for buyers and sellers to contract binding commitments for plannable and predictable freight and allows those contracts to be traded when needs change. In time, Leaf will become the hub through which the trillion-dollar American freight market is managed.

We are a team of experienced, smart, and mildly disagreeable troublemakers who like taking on unreasonably big challenges; we know how to build things, we’ve lived what’s broken in this industry, and we’re looking for bright, ambitious people to help us drag the transportation world kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

What does the Leaf Solutions Project Manager do?

Solutions Project Manager uses their analytical skills, problem solving and creativity to find efficient ways to deliver value for Leaf. This team will identify inefficiencies and business requirements, and design and build technical tools to deliver high impact solutions to drive key initiatives. Examples include identifying opportunities for automation, breaking down barriers to challenge the status quo, and testing out future ways of working in order to support growth. This involves:

    ●      Helping to improve Leaf’s processes and technology – challenging the way the team works today by determining solutions for bottlenecks and inefficiencies

    ●      Constantly asking questions, challenging us to be better, and proactively proposing new solutions and ideas

    ●      Persistently iterating on short-term fixes and long-term solutions to allow us to scale more rapidly with technology

    ●      Understanding Leaf operations across all functional areas, and how a solution in one area impacts other teams

    ●      Embodying Leaf’s core values of trust, transparency and ownership as we build the future of transportation

Who makes a great Solutions Project Manager?

This is a great role for someone who is looking to accelerate their career by driving maximum impact at a growth-stage company. You will see a wide array of challenges, and a successful individual in this role will be able to work independently and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. No task is too big or small as an individual contributor.

You embrace every challenge thrown your way and strive to find solutions which meet the needs of the team, while being efficient, action oriented and clear. This role is not about building product or beautiful UIs, but solving problems and collecting input for longer-term product goals.

Solutions need to be grounded in sound and logical reasoning, backed by data. You have great analytical skills; your tool of choice does not matter, what matters are the results. You build rapport and alignment among key stakeholders, developing a clear framework for and intention behind projects.

    Additionally, it’s helpful to have:

    ●      2-3 years of consulting or project management experience under your belt focusing on identifying problems and building solutions

    ●      Excellent Office skills, including Excel, CRM, and presentations. Strong analytical, project leadership and communication skills

    ●      Data management experience, and demonstrated ability and desire to work with data on a consistent basis

    ●      Entrepreneurial initiative and startup experience; willing to work through challenges and start-up grit

    ●      Ability to work both self-directed and collaboratively to deliver results in a fast-paced startup environment

    ●      Consummate team player, able to wear multiple hats, and assist team members when needed

    ●      Technical expertise in one or more of the following preferred: BI tooling, CRM (ex. Salesforce, Hubspot), Programming (ex. SQL, Python)

Be willing to work with people you disagree with; seek out constructive criticism, and constantly search for ways to do what you do better. Never be content with things the way they are, but don’t let the quest for something perfect prevent you doing what’s good enough. Have a sense of humor and be prepared to use it liberally.

We are hiring four Solutions Project Managers, each supporting a different cross-functional team. In addition to the bullets above, here are some specifics about what we’re looking for:

    Sales

    ●      5+ years of Sales, Sales Operations/Business Operations, or Marketing experience

    ●      CRM knowledge a plus

    ●      A data-driven approach to surfacing risks, gaps, and opportunities for automation and improvements in efficiency

    Customer Success

    ●      5+ years of Customer Success, Sales or Marketing experience

    ●      A customer-first mindset, with ability to understand their point-of-view and needs inside-out

    ●      A data-driven approach to surfacing risks, gaps, and opportunities for automation and improvements in efficiency

    Leaf Execution

    ●      5+ years of logistics industry experience

    ●      A data-driven approach to surfacing risks, gaps, and opportunities for automation and improvements in efficiency

    Technology

    ●      5+ years of Data, Analyst, or Product experience

    ●      Ability to understand statistical analysis and ensure continuous improvement of Leaf’s data

    ●      Has a data quality mindset, and the skills to identify and correct data issues

    Who doesn’t?

What we’re trying to do is hard, because we’re asking for big changes from people who are usually very comfortable doing things the way they’ve always been done. There is a lot of frustration, and it’s easy to put a lot of work into something that doesn’t bear fruit. But we’re here to put a big dent in a gigantic industry, something we’ll all be proud of a decade from now.

We’re also a startup. Priorities change all the time, something’s always on fire, and there’s twice as much work to do as hands to do it. Its uncomfortable, new challenges surface constantly, and that means it’s up to you to manage how you spend your time in the midst of conflicting priorities.

We’re well-funded, with advisors and investors who’ve built legendary companies. But we’re also deploying that capital aggressively, so you should expect uncertainty and discomfort.

If the above sounds daunting, you’re a perfectly sound and reasonable person who probably won’t fit in at Leaf. If this strikes you as an exhilarating milieu, well, let’s talk.
