    工作機會描述

At sweetgreen, a Software Engineer is responsible for building, testing, debugging/troubleshooting, and maintaining code for both web and native applications. They share some infrastructure responsibilities regarding DevOps, interact and improve our continuous integration and deployment processes, and help enforce the standards set by Lead Engineers and the rest of the organization.

It is expected that an Engineer will embody strong design principles as they relate to scalability, disposable resources, automation, loose coupling, service oriented design, databases, removing single points of failure, cache, cost, and security. They are trusted squad members, and mentors, that heavily influence the design and implementation of new services while also integrating with and upgrading existing ones to address mission-critical problems. Working closely with Lead Engineers, Software Engineering Managers and Principals, they champion architectural decisions that facilitate the work of their teams and our business as a whole.

Performance objectives we expect from an Engineer

Map the Existing System: A guest order flows through many systems before making it to our customers. In your first two weeks, you’ll have developed a deep understanding of the order lifecycle by reviewing the existing system design and documentation. By day 21, you will have contributed to those areas that need additional documentation, in both Confluence and elsewhere.

Begin Making an Impact: Within 30 days you will be contributing more consistently to a particular area of the stack. You will have a strengthening understanding of how we identify, scope, and structure work for the team to deliver. Your relationship with your teammates will be what enables you to approach areas of uncertainty with confidence because you know who to engage at the right time.

Casting a Wider Net: By 45 days, you will be contributing to code reviews in areas outside of the one that you are familiar with. You will also begin to be assigned work in related areas of the code, but these potentially will require you to use your existing understanding of the stack and organization to quickly onboard and contribute.

Core Member of the Team: By day 90, you will be delivering at a known, consistent, velocity. There will still be plenty to learn, but you are comfortable with getting assigned tickets from various sides of the codebase because you understand how to approach tickets on our team. You are comfortable with gathering additional requirements and partnering with QA. You are becoming more engaged in refinements and asking the right questions to make sure we are not missing any critical details before the tickets get to the developer.

Documentation: In order to ease future teammate onboarding, debugging, and knowledge sharing of complex services while mitigating the risk of tribal knowledge, within 30 days in seat, you’ll contribute to our established information architecture within Confluence and have identified areas of potential improvement or archiving of existing documentation.

Monitoring System Health: By day 90, you will be contributing to the implementation of missing or leverage existing telemetry and testing, through CI/CD, so you can report on the health of your services, triage bugs, and limit regression. You will be constantly thinking about how you can improve, but not overwhelm, our monitoring systems and dashboards.

    The Team

At sweetgreen the Customer Engagement team can be described as the domain that encompasses all of the digital touchpoints that enable a user to place an order. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

    • Pipelines and tools for information to publish seamlessly through our CRM, Marketing, and Data teams so that we can achieve a level of understanding and personalization that powers the user’s digital experience.
    • Sweetgreen applications that a user can leverage to order an item. These include Web, Android, and iOS that are all served by a single React Native solution.
    • Backend services that power authentication, payments, loyalty, ordering, and personalization.
    • Supporting and collaborating with our other domain teams to build an ecosystem of advanced, scalable, and durable solutions.

    Engineering Culture

At sweetgreen our business evolves every day as do the solutions we invent to meet those emerging needs. We believe that it’s a mix of individual skill and collaboration that leads to successful outcomes. There is no standard definition of what an Engineer is or does, and depending on where you’re coming from things might look a little different.

We’re technology agnostic, but we have a propensity to leverage lean tools that are best suited to get the job done. Our systems are built leveraging a variety of frameworks, but the most established are Nest.js, GraphQL, React Native, and Ruby. We try not to over index on the latest tech and to instead focus on the tools that allow for the greatest development experience, quality of work, and productivity.

We value, encourage, and support diversity in backgrounds and opinions. We are human, fallible, life-long learners - we make mistakes from which we learn and grow. We partner with Product, Design, Data, IT, Operations, and Business stakeholders in long-term ownership of the solutions we build to improve the lives of our customers.

Our mission within Engineering is to create, operate, and continually improve upon software critical to the overall sweetgreen mission. We provide technical expertise, guidance, and vision to our partners and stakeholders in order to inform sustainable thinking across sweetgreen.
