The Senior Accounting Manager, Equity and Payroll is crucial to our success in this mission, by ensuring SoundHound manages stable, accurate reporting processes to scale and expand our global reach.

    The Senior Accounting Manager, Equity and Payroll will be an integral member of SoundHound’s accounting/finance team, will report to the SVP, Controller, and will manage Equity, Payroll, Executive Compensation, and Sales Commission accounting workstreams.

    In this role, you will manage:

    • Equity Accounting:
    • Provide accounting team representation and assistance to the Total Rewards/Payroll team (within the HR Department)
    • Identify, manage, and deliver all accounting of equity-based transactions to include: (Stock Compensation; including ESPP, modifications, PSUs, etc. (Shareworks),All Other Equity transactions (ATM, ELOC, M&A, etc.).
    • Assist SEC Reporting Team with equity related disclosures
      -Improve and maintain equity related internal controls
    • Payroll Accounting:
    • Provide accounting team representation and assistance to the Payroll/Total Rewards team (within the HR Department).
    • Perform payroll accounting and prepare payroll journal entries (NetSuite, UKG)
    • Manage and deliver Executive Compensation accounting
    • Manage and deliver Sales Commission accounting
    • Review payroll reconciliations

    • Additional Accounting:

    • Report to SVP, Controller on a growing team in a newly public, collaborative, fast-paced, company. This role provides strong personal growth opportunities to include other accounting areas, close activities, etc. to enable career growth and progression.

    We would love to hear from you if:

    • You have substantial hands-on equity and payroll accounting experience
    • You are obsessively detail-oriented and leave nothing to chance
    • You hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
    • You earned a degree in accounting
    • You have 12+ years (or 8+ years with a Master’s degree) of relevant experience
    • You independently research and apply accounting/reporting principles and maintain a solid knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations
    • You have experience with SOX 404b compliant, Large Accelerated Filer processes and you are comfortable with applicable cross-functional coordination to establish and maintain applicable controls.
    • You have strong project management skills and the ability to independently and simultaneously manage overlapping projects
    • You have strong analytical, organizational, oral, and written communication skills

    We’d be especially excited if you have experience as a Big-4 auditor and hands-on experience with NetSuite, UKG, and Shareworks.

    This role is available throughout the United States except for the following 15 states: AL, AK, DE, IA, ME, MS, MO, NH, ND, RI, SC, VT, WV, WI, and WY. Employees within a 60-mile radius of our Santa Clara, CA office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled, company-wide “core days” each month to encourage cross-team connection and in-person collaboration. Aside from these core days, this job allows for virtual/remote, hybrid, and in-office workplace setting options. The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $200,000 plus equity. In addition to salary and equity, you will receive comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and other benefits. Our recruiting team will provide a specific salary range based on location and years of experience.
